We have been working with Robotic Automation to add laser sensing capability to Verbotics Weld. Laser sensing uses a laser distance sensor to determine the position of the part, in a process similar to touch sensing. The advantage of using a laser is there is no wire to cut prior to sensing, and wire related issues such as a bent wire are no longer a problem. This can significantly reduce the time taken to calibrate the part.
Initial testing was completed at Robotic Automation using a Yaskawa MH5 with a SERVO-ROBOT QUICKSPOT™ connected to a rapid digital input in the controller. A Verbotics Weld cell was set up with a small test component to develop and demonstrate the capability.
We are currently testing this capability in production, and initial support has been added to Verbotics Weld 0.8. If you are interested and would like to know more please contact us.
